Compact control and drive solutions for assembly and handling technology

Motek 2017, international specialist trade show for production and assembly system automation, came to a successful close in Stuttgart on 12 October. More than 30,000 trade visitors from 100 different countries made their way to Stuttgart to find out about new products and future trends in the industry. In addition to digitisation, the topics of flexibility and increasing efficiency also played a major role. “When it comes to efficiency, automation solutions from Beckhoff offer key benefits,” comments Frank Saueressig, Head of the Beckhoff Balingen branch office. “In conjunction with the fast EtherCAT fieldbus system, TwinCAT automation software and such innovative drive technology solutions as the XTS, the powerful PC platform provides everything required to increase cycle times and implement innovative concepts for machine design.”

In keeping with the motto of “minimised design – maximum flexibility”, Beckhoff focused its trade show presence on the scalability of its PC platform with respect to performance, design and price. “The advantages are obvious,” Frank Saueressig emphasises. “Assembly cells and control cabinets can be scaled down to a smaller footprint, and machine manufacturers only have to purchase as much power and performance capacities as they need for their plants.”
