Fensterbau Frontale, which took place in Nuremberg from 16 to 19 March 2016, is the world’s leading tradeshow for windows, doors and facades. The organizers of the show, which is held every two years, report positive results: 1,293 exhibitors from 39 different countries and some 110,500 visiting professionals.
Energy efficiency and sustainability in production – coupled with safety, design and user comfort – are the most important requirements in the window industry. “Which also describes what is required for machine building, or rather for process automation,” explains Thomas Koslowsky, Sales Manager at Beckhoff. “Machine building for the window and door industry is traditionally one of Beckhoff’s core industries. The automated production of lot size one was already a topic in the window-building industry at a very early point in time and a challenge to us to develop the corresponding control solutions.”
Today, PC-based control with open interfaces in hardware and software and continuous communication, from the sensor into the cloud, provides all the prerequisites for the “smart factory”. As a result, Beckhoff customers are very well equipped for integrated, intelligent production on the basis of continuous horizontal and vertical communication to improve their flexibility, efficiency and sustainability as well as their competitive edge in production.
