Beckhoff at Automatica 2016

This year, Automatica welcomed 839 exhibitors and a total of some 45,000 visiting professionals (one third from outside of Germany) to Messe München (the Munich fairgrounds) from 21 to 24 June. Compared to the previous event in 2014, the international trade show for automation and mechatronics drew approximately 16 % more exhibitors and even 30 % more visitors.

At its trade show booth, Beckhoff also very successfully presented the entire spectrum of its PC-based automation solutions, ranging from the integration of robot kinematics right on up to the simple, secure integration of cloud services. One of the main areas of focus was made up by the basic technologies and existing products that are enablers of Industrie 4.0: TwinCAT Analytics saves process data cyclically and synchronously to create the basis for extensive state analyses and process optimisations. TwinCAT IoT supports all popular protocols for cloud communication and sets up an easy-to-configure connection to local or public cloud systems.

As far as Beckhoff is concerned, such other current innovations as EtherCAT P, TwinCAT HMI and the new high-end measuring technology generation also played a significant role in making Automatica the resounding success it was. Stefan Lorenz, Head of Sales Southern Bavaria, commented: “Compared to 2014, the number of visitors to our booth increased considerably (+35 %). This impressive growth in visitor numbers to our booth is a clear reflection of the special interest there is in our solutions for IoT and/or Industrie 4. IT and automation are two sectors that continue to converge and we were able to show ready solutions. Our other show highlights also still attracted a lot of attention in many of the sales talks. Two examples of this are EtherCAT P, i.e. One Cable Automation for the field level, and TwinCAT HMI, which paves a quick and easy way to an individualised user interface.”
